A taxi driver will get a short-fare pass that will allow them to jump to the front of the line if they choose to return to MDW for another fare. An Uber/Lyft driver will not. That, plus the fact that a taxi will be waiting for you at the curb and Uber/Lyft would need to drive over from the rideshare staging area, make a taxi a better option.

I would absolutely not rely on an airport shuttle at that time of night, provided the shuttle is even running at that hour.

MDW is between 55th and 63rd, so this trip is closer to one mile than two, I’d say.l

8 streets per mile, normally.

Wonder how fast OP can run a mile...

UM I wouldn't bet on a taxi returning on a short fare at that time. Uber/Lyft would be my best guess

How would you possibly know if a hotel has a shuttle running when you arrive?

Read all the replies on FT from all the educated posters who offer their opinions,

or

Maybe call them ahead of time?

Because the poster doesn’t want to wait for the shuttle even if it is running.

Rideshare at MDW is on the lower level, across from baggage claim, outside door 4 (unlike some airports who make it difficult).

Rideshare at ORD.

Just completed trip. Plenty of cabs waiting at 2 AM (flight was delayed). Lyft only took a few minutes to arrive.
