Flight sold out before companion pass
 

I booked a flight for July CLE-SEA awhile ago, but I cant change my companion for this flight till June. Lo and behold one leg sold out, I was pretty surprised this far in advance. Lesson learned.
Should I rebook myself on a different flight (more points) and then book my companion a ticket and swap it out once they are designated, or is there a chance a ticket may open up on my current reservation that i can snag for my companion then swap out? Any experience with sold out flights showing availability at some point? Thanks

Keep an eye on it, I have run into this problem many times. Check daily until you find a seat. Someone will cancel.

I bet the sellout is due to the MAX8 grounding. They have "sold out" all flights where that plane was supposed to fly the route. Once they rearrange the aircraft, they should open up sales again.

Anything this week is subject to change as they try to rework their planes and schedule.

I once had a sold out flight less than 48 hours before leaving. Kept checking and a seat finally showed up.

You should be fine. But, NOBODY knows for sure.

That other flight could become sold out as well.
