MAX8 concerns trigger "no fare upcharge" changes for *everyone* systemwide thru 3/31
I have a reservation this Friday to PHL > ATL> HOU and Sunday HOU > DAL > PHL. When I checked my reservation in the SWA app, there is a red banner that says "Important: You can change your flight". When I click on it, I get a message all in red that says " You may change your travel date/time at no additional cost. "Circumstances beyond our control (weather, etc.) are creating disruptions to our schedule and a flight(s) on which you are currently booked may adversely me affected." When I look at my reservation on the Southwest web site, it does not show the banner or anything about changing my flight. My flights are still showing on-time both in the app and web site. I have never had this happen before with Southwest. Why are they offering me the option to change my flight?

Some notice on my flight on 3/17 BDL-BWI-LIR.
Showing the aircraft to be 700 and 800 series, not MAX>
I will call Southwest tomorrow and inquire.

Another data point: I also have the option to change both legs of my 3/15-17 R/T from LAX to ATL.
Perhaps this indicates the MAX may be pulled from service? It’s certianly not weather in LA, and it always rains in Atlanta...

I received this notice for my upcoming OAK-BWI flight on 3/18. That route is supposed to be operated by 737-800, but I see that the MAX 8 is frequently swapped in for that route. I guess it’s a good sign that Southwest Is showing flexibility....but I’m not risking it as long as there are unresolved questions on the MAX 8.

I called and they really didn't know why but said it could be possibly weather related. I asked about the Max aircraft and was told that was absolutely not the issue. Don't see weather being a problem either. Hmm.

I called and was told all passengers with flights in this window are being offered accommodation -- no matter what their aircraft — as a way to provide choice to people due to the MAX controversy.

Yes, the MAX is a different model than the 737-700 and 737-800. There are actually three variants of the MAX — the 737 MAX 7, 737 MAX 8, and 737 MAX 9. From what I understand Southwest only has the MAX 8.
