WGA aren't intro fares.

Then why are there flights with the WGA fare option sold out and the other two still available? Taking Hawaii out of the picture, I looked at LAX-SFO and there are lots of instances where this is the case. Revenue management is very dynamic and subject to supply/demand, so I think we're both probably correct at our observations. The bottom line however, is that when the cheap seats are sold out, the expensive options are what's left.

WGA may not be an intro fare category, but it is indeed where the sales are at and where all the restrictions lie. The fare sale that Southwest just launched are introductory fares, as they've just introduced themselves to this market. We'll see what happens to pricing when these intro fares are over.

Does anyone understand the fee structure on points bookings? When pricing out from OAK or SJC to Hawaii, there was a $14.60 each way fee. However, when booking DAL-Hawaii with a California connection the fee was the standard $5.60. I did not see any explanation of the difference on the Southwest site. I am curious if others have more info on this. Thanks.

Dates? I am seeing the normal $5.60 on OAK-HNL flights.

9/29 - I actually booked SJC-HNL for 8 passengers on points (5800 each) and it was around $119 in fees. A few minutes later I found DAL-HNL availability on 9/30 and it was only $44 in fees for 8 passengers.

Anytime fares are what other airlines would consider Y class (refundable full fare economy) tickets. Everything else gets lumped into Wanna Get Away. So WGA fares will vary until they finally sell out. WGA fares can also show sold out if the advance purchase deadlines have already passed.

There is no way to know this, or really even to guess accurately. No one knows what the WGA last minute fares will be until flights start and we see last minute WGA fares..... I would imagine there will be a LOT of pricing changes between now and then. I do think WN will be competetive, especially when you take the 2 free bags into consideration.

Needed an island hopper HNL-OGG in July, HA wanted $99 + bag, the $49 WN with 2 free bags is perfect.

I understand. The question you quoted me asking, was to another poster who suggested WGA fares never become unavailable, but just get more expensive. In the end, we're saying the same things. When the cheapest seats aren't available, for whatever reason, one will have to buy the higher fare. To my original point, when those lowest fares are no longer available on Southwest, they'll be more expensive than HAL. At the end of the day, HAL will offer more seats, therefore more cheap seats, therefore will often be the cheaper option. This is also why Hawaiian won't have to discount as many seats and appear at the moment, to not be matching Southwest's inter-island fares.

I just searched it again and see $5.60 for all relevant flights. Must have been a glitch. Strange, but glad to see it is not a new fee.

What city pairs? What date? I found this applied for SJC-HNL, but not DAL-HNL.
