Canceling Points reservation after changing it
Quick question. I booked a round trip flight on points which came to around 5k. I changed my departure flight to the day before which was the same price in points. I want to change the return flight to a later time thats more convenient for me but requires +X amount of points which i dont have. If i cancel the whole flight (to book the first end on points) and the return by cash will i get my points back or is there no refund after a change.

I would recommend you call in and have them cancel only the return and just leave you with the outbound. You should get the points that were originally spent on the return back in your account. This would remove any risk of not being able to rebook the outbound at the same price you originally paid. This is why I always book all my flights as one ways, plus it is easier to track what you spent on each direction and makes changes much easier.

HINT - always book two one way tickets. Do not book RT.

Almost always. There are exceptions. |

Can you provide a couple examples of exceptions?
-Some international ticket fees have priced cheaper as a RT than OW. |
