Goodwill Comp request for 3+ mech delay?

What would be an appropriate request for a 3+ mechanical delay?
Would I do better to request RR points rather than cash? Would the points be tier qualifying points?

Many thanks.

I would think front line staff have way more options to grant points vs requesting a check be cut.

There is virtually zero chance you will get any cash.

I've often received $100 LUV vouchers for 2 hour MX delays and $200 vouchers for 4 hour delays. Many were automatically sent, but I had to request the last one from CR since our perfectly good airplane was swapped out for a MX and we arrived in the middle of the night.

Yes. I have never heard of them granting points, but it is not at all uncommon to get LUV vouchers. I would ask for $200 ( in a polite email ), but be happy with $100.

You won’t get any tier qualification points. As others suggest, you might ask for a LUV voucher.

One thing is close to morally certain. You will not receive cash or equivalent. If anything with a $ sign on it, it will be WN funny money.

Last Wedneday I had a 3 + delay - definitely weather related. 12 hours after arriving, I got a $100 LUV voucher in e-mail - without complaining to anybody, requesting anything.
Last 2-3 years we had similar experiences after mec delayss:$100-200 LUV vouchers - without requesting compensation.
We never got points.

Yeah, got $100 LUV after a 2h MX a few weeks ago, unsolicited. Works for me.

I had a 4+ hour mechanical delay last fall and, after sending an email to customer service, received a $100 LUV voucher. I asked for Tier Qualifying Points, but they refused to give me those.

Was delayed almost 4 hours departing yesterday due to MX, arriving 3.5 hours late. $100 LUV voucher handed out at LAX after the 3rd hour, and another $100 requested and granted via Twitter.

What are experiences for shorter (1-hr) delays? On Sunday night our bird was reallocated to another delayed flight, shortening their wait, but impacting a new flight. We ended up 65 minutes behind schedule.

Worth the email? Or let it go?

Send an email, we got $100 each for a one hour delay last year. WN has a lot of delays but are very good about compensation from what I have seen.

We were delayed 2 1/2 hours in MCI last year and each passenger received a $200 LUV voucher at the desk

Last Fri our originating flight had a 2 hr MX delay which caused us to miss our connection in Denver (the last flight of the day to our destination) so we unexpectedly had to spend the night in DEN. By default we were given a hotel room, $200/person in LUV vouchers and seats on the first flight out to our destination in the morning. It didn't bother me at the time but I'm now thinking that causing us to ultimately arrive 10+ hrs late should warrant more than a $200/person LUV voucher. Any suggestions, or does anyone have any similar experiences with delays this long?

I got a $300 LUV voucher in person at SLC few weeks back, then received a second $200 LUV voucher via email once I arrived. This was due to a MX diversion on SLC-OAK (we returned to SLC 20min after takeoff) which ultimately resulted in a four-hour delay. I think the going rate is $50 an hour for MX delays. Hope they get their act together soon...
