I just managed to do 4 flights SAN-SJC-BUR-OAK-SAN between 1:20pm and 8:30pm when I land. Not bad. Originally supposed to land at 10:45pm but everything has been on time and wide open so I’ve been able to standby for earlier flights. Not a bad way to get a jump on 2021 Alist for $117. Gotta love those $29 flights.

Southwest has matched Alaska's 1-day sale today. $29 LAX-SJC. Alaska's terms:
Purchase by 11:59 pm (PT) on January 28, 2020, and at least 21 days prior to departure. Travel from San Jose (SJC) to Los Angeles (LAX) is valid Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from February 18, 2020 - March 11, 2020.

Did anyone notice the $29 fares came out to 1016 points?

F9 announced they are entering SJC-PHX and LAX-PHX nonstop markets for $39/29 OW. Hoping that has a Southwest Effect.

AA seems to also have matched SJC LAX (didn't check SAN)
(wow, they also have a sale on the ANC to HNL flight!)

Haven't seen any great intra-California fares from OAK for some time, even during fare sales (didn't check SJC). The only exception is heavily competitive SFO<->LAX. Otherwise I'm seeing at best $69 off peak and well >$100 on weekends. This has been the pattern for some time. I guess planes are full with the continued absence of the MAX. It is so bad I may go with JSX which is a little higher but a nicer experience.

Spectaulcarly high intra-CA fares outside of the window for this sale. As one of the worst examples, SJC-ONT is $84 minimum even on Tuesdays. I do realize ONT is still struggling even worse than OAK after all these years so I would expect high fares anyway. But $84 one way is real steep.

Not as bad as 2016: When will Southwest relent on insane summer fares? (Answer: June 3, 2016)

I hope Southwest learned from 2016 that summer fares can only be sustained a little higher than winter fares, not 2x or 2x.

I think cause most other carriers have dropped out of OAK so there is a lack of competition

When was the last time you were in there? I'm in and out of the IE all the time and there's rarely a time ONT is empty, and my SJC flights there and back almost always go out completely full. One time I'd landed at ~10:30p and had to walk past at least two gates full of departing pax.

Yeah, I'm have to go with everyone else and say "... nah". That's a decent target price for a WGA (that being said, depending on scheduling I've paid as little as ~$49).

Given that the airport is still less busy than it was in 1992, I'd count that as struggling. OAK is also struggling and it's over twice as busy as it was in 1992.
