Odd observation: FAT - LAS on WN

Odd observation. There was a WN flight that flew FAT - LAS yesterday
https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...330Z/KFAT/KLAS

Can't find any news or schedule information on it. Possible test flight?

Anyone know why WN would do this one-off? This route is currently dominated by Allegiant.

The flight number indicates it’s likely a charter flight.

Ahh. Good to know.

Was hoping they were scoping to add service to FAT

There was a thread here awhile back pointing toward at least some consideration by Southwest of serving Fresno someday. I'd welcome it... Obviously I'd have to change planes somewhere coming from MDW. Oh, well, there are worse things than the drive from SJC which I sort of enjoy.

There should be a thread somewhere for "strange places you've seen a WN jet."

A colleague of mine has a grandfather who took one of those special charters for WWII vets to visit Washington D.C. It was ORD-DCA on WN.

I always do a double-take when I see a commercial airliner sitting at MKC (Kansas City's old downtown airport). Often a visiting sports team...

Southwest also has charter service to MCO from different PA airports, that it doesn't service with schedule service, though Boscov's travel:

There is even complimentary reserved seating included.

I'm surprised it works from MDT for just two trips, with Frontier having scheduled service, and Lancaster is somewhat close to MDT.

I would have suspected something related to Fresno State football, but it looks like SDSU flew an SY 738, so it's not that https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...830Z/KFAT/KSAN

Just to follow up, this appears to be a ferry flight back to LAS after an honor flight for Lt. Col. Seth Nehring, a member of the CA ANG and Southwest pilot killed in a joint training exercise in Ukraine last month.

I wondered why they bothered putting seat numbers on their planes - I just figured there would still be situations where they'd need to know which passenger was sitting in which seat.

True, but having unique identifying numbers/letters for seats and rows is helpful for a lot of things even without assigned seats. It also helps flight attendants know which rows they have to cover for safety checks and lets them keep track of drink orders since they don't use carts. Plus some of us have certain rows we prefer, and seat numbers help with that! Also useful for being able to describe where you were sitting if you've left behind an item.
