More super-low fares in targeted markets. This has to be some kind of demand curve measurement exercise.
Now that the credit card door to CP has been mostly closed I am glad I decided to aim for 100 flights in 2018. These fares allow me to book a segment run.

This fare was alive yesterday but it's gone this morning. Six days was a long time for a deal this good.

Excellent find. Also $4 lower LAX-OAK now: $45 and $55 rather than $49 and $59.
Edited to add: If you connect two $31 fares with less than 4 hours connection time the round trip is $55 and change. Furthermore, the Change Reservation page does not enforce minimum connection time, so you can use it to tighten up your segment run.

Eagle-eyed member jalloola reported that the price decrease was due to Southwest’s non-collection of the $4.50 passenger facility charge rather than a systemwide fare decrease. It was a glitch that has been fixed.

LAX-SFO is now $2 more, at $37 each way.
Up to $38 as of April 21, and still alive for travel Tuesday.

Just booked a Tuesday segment run (which I may not take, but thanks for the tip, @nsx) ... but oh how I wish SJC had these fares

It was gone for a day or so, now back at $45. It's a good price if you need to fly on short notice. But it's a little pricey compared to the $55 round trips I booked earlier.

And just as quickly it's dead again. $49 two weeks ahead, but that's relatively common in this market.
I can only speculate that Southwest is playing a signaling game with rivals, because these gyrations are inscrutable to customers. Not to mention all the work tracking them and retitling this thread!

There are now $45 Saturday SFO-LAX fares in the Fall. Tuesday and Wednesday are $48. This is the first time I've seen Saturday sale fares at a lower price than Tuesday and Wednesday fares.
