Are you going to finish your conversation? Is there a question or story here?

Many forum participants achieve CP in early January via cc, and many others achieve it much earlier than you via actually flying. A+ is typically more challenging, tho many of us also achieve that within the first couple of months of the year.

I used to routinely lock it up by the end of Feb thanks to Business Select fares, non competitive ISP pricing and weekly RT travel in the new year. Be sure to enjoy the fruits of your labor though...

How I earn it:
1 card for personal, 1 for Biz.
2 kids in college, All tuition payments etc on card.
Flights
I only fly Southwest
I only reserve rental cars and Hotels with Southwest partners.

I am also an A lister. Companion pass for the past 3 years.

¿Sabe usted que ganar un companion pass en marzo amplía hasta diciembre 2020?

Here's an idea then. Don't earn it this year. Put your spend on other cards that you can benefit from.

It actually makes sense. He probably earns it the middle of the year every year. If he was to go without earning it this year, he would would be without until the middle of next year.

The only time you get the benefit of almost two years of the CP is the first time you earn it. After that you are just adding another year.

One of the reasons why alternating spousal / partner CPs makes so much sense...

Sure if you're talking strictly credit card sign up bonuses. This is practically the only way most people would be able to get the companion pass early in the year. But the OP made it sound as though this isn't necessary.

No.

Earning CP in March would extend it through the end of 2019, not 2020.

CP, when earned, covers the year it's earned in plus all of the following year.
