Midwest snowmagedden is on its way (02/09)

It appears WN has already cancelled morning flights from MDW tomorrow and (currently) have flights leaving 13:00 or so still scheduled for departure.

https://www.southwest.com/html/advis...052449128.html

Based on the forecasted weather conditions for the cities listed below, our scheduled service on Thursday-Friday, February 8-9, may be disrupted (flights may be delayed, diverted, and/or cancelled):

Buffalo (BUF)
Chicago (MDW)
Cleveland (CLE)
Detroit (DTW)
Flint (FNT)
Grand Rapids (GRR)
Milwaukee (MKE)
Rochester (ROC)

These types of storms I look at the trend. 24 hours ago they were predicting 5-7. then they were predicting 6-9. Then they were predicting 9-12. Now it is up to 14 with areas of heavier snow. I think this will be a serious snow storm. Compared to some areas of the country this isn't huge, but it is big here and I am sure that WN will cancel everything at mdw tomorrow. I plan on staying home ( because I can ) . Everyone else - stay safe.

They cancled my FNT-MDW-SFO trip that was supposed to start at 17:30 EST on Friday. Managed to get booked FNT-MDW-OAK on Sat at 0720 EST.

Here is hoping that does not fall apart.

Is there any chance they could re-Instate my flights and get me back on my original schedule?

While anything is theoretically "possible", NO. Once they preemptively cancel flights en-mass while anticipating a Big Storm, they don't un-cancel them. Logistics.

Flight Aware currently showing Southwest with 329 pre-cancelled flights for Friday (and it's still Thursday).

All flights morning are cancelled. I doubt anything will go this afternoon either. Snow continues all day with another 3-5 Saturday night.

I had originally booked a flight that was set to land at Midway 2/9 around 6pm. They cancelled that flight on 2/8. I was able to reschedule it for a flight later in the day. Arrived at midway around 9pm in the evening instead. Major roads between midway and downtown were clear. Heard it was supposed to start snowing around 11pm tonight, but seems that hasn’t happened.

All WN MSP-MDW flights cancelled today? Are that many planes really out of position?

Edit: everything is cancelled in/out of MDW this afternoon? Weather looks fine...?

I live about 19 miles SSE of MDW. This is a picture taken Friday out my front door, and we had at least 3 more inches after this.

Weather is gorgeous now, mid-afternoon Sunday.

MDW meltdown: friends at MDW tell me SWA has run out of deicing fluid. All flights cancelled today.
