30% discount when buying WN points; targeted?

Sure, THIS is the offer I get from WN instead of all the double-points or fast-track to status ones.

Thanks, guys!

Is this a good value? Typically buying points from any travel partner is a horrible deal. Naively hoping that WN is different in this case.

If you fly lots of really cheap fares, conceivably you might make a tiny profit.

I once found a MDW-ATL fare that worked out to 2.16 cents per point. This offer is at 1.925 cents per point.

Just got it too in lieu of the others mentioned. Have no reason to buy them.

Southwest even has some DAL-SFO flights at $40 o/w that work out to 2.32 cents per point. Now if only we could buy points to apply towards CP renewal.

Interesting: At some point Southwest/Points.com raised the price of points purchased under 5,000 to 3 cents per point (from 2.75 cents).

Sneaky! With the special discount, you are back to square one! Just could never see a reason to buy unless a few points needed to top off an award.

Points purchases of 5,000 or more are still at 2.75 cents each, and the offer requires a minimum purchase of 10,000 points.

But yes, for "topping off" purchases of a small number of points, the price went up.

Oct 23 2017 -- Targeted (?) "Pile-on More Points"

This @Email "appeared" overnight. The scroll box keeps-going, but the math appears the same as the Sept offer toomanybooks posted above. ursine1 et al please verify the math if you don't mind...I can copy the rest of the scroll box as needed.

The "Reveal Your Bonus" button redirects to SWA dot com and prompts you to logon to your account, whereupon the browser immediately heaves it's guts out (see other ongoing threads, re: "can't check-in", etc.). A little patience, reloading and such and the big "reveal" = 50%. <shrug>

Curious as to how they decide to send "deals" like this to longtime A+ folks that consistently maintain 500K+ RR point balances & already fly a lot. But then I was never in marketing

Offer is valid between October 17, 2017, 12:00:01 a.m. CST and November 10, 2017, 11:59:59 p.m. CST. Member will receive 50% bonus points when they purchase a minimum of 5,000 Rapid Rewards® points. A valid credit card is required to buy points. A minimum 5,000 points purchase threshold must be met on a per transaction basis, in order to qualify for bonus points. Points can be purchased in blocks of 1,000 and a daily maximum of 60,000 points can be purchased by a Member with no annual maximum. Transactions are non-refundable and non-reversible. Offer is only valid for member receiving this email. Purchased points and bonus points do not count towards A-List, A-List Preferred, or Companion Pass qualification. Prices are in U.S. Dollars and include all applicable taxes. Please allow 72 hours for points to post to the applicable Rapid Rewards account.
