I am listening to WFAA live online and they just announced both Houston airports are closed indefinitely.

The cool thing about the FFA and the E-word is that an emergency is whatever the PIC says it is. Welcome aboard and have a great flight!

Extra sections to get the stranded pax and crews outta there. They may not have been able to get the crews that were stranded at a couple of the area hotels, but at least they were able to get the ones stuck at the airport.

They may not be able to fly but the good news is those aircraft are well above the flood levels... wheels might be in for some maint. with too much water though.

Airlines normally do not like to have aircraft sitting around vs. flying, but I think SW is going to have way too many planes compared to number of flights this week. No idea how many flights a day use Hobby, but it must be alot.

WN hopes that Hobby is open as of Wednesday. Optimistic but they have a date.

CRP is planning three inbound flights Tuesday, one NS from DAL and two NS from ATL. I suspect that the ATL flights might be over water a lot of their route.

HRL is open Monday and has one flight coming in from AUS and one NS from DAL. Same for Tuesday.

Since almost all flights to these airports flow through Hobby, it is great that WN is able to reroute/overfly many flights so there is some passenger and cargo service.

WN is still selling tickets on Southwest.com for Tuesday night, August 29, departures from HOU even knowing the airport won't be open.

So in the battle for the worst airline IT Dept we have:

Delta IT
Southwest IT

Or do we blame the Marketing Dept?

If you have a flight booked that you'd like to cancel but would like a refund instead of travel funds... just change it to HOU for Tuesday?

UA was doing the same thing for flights out of IAH. It's been pretty hectic in Houston. I'm sure it can take some e time to get everything synced.

For those curious, looks like WN just pulled another 10 birds out of HOU. So total of 16 so far?
