SMH, I feel bad for you. Im sorry if no one has done anything kind for you out of the goodness of their heart.
This has nothing to do with dating.
This is solely that I have a companion pass to use for someone that needs it.

People have done kind acts for me and I have done so for them, but it's never required giving one's full name and DOB to a stranger on the internet with 3 posts to his/her name, so it doesn't quite pass my sniff test.

You don't have anyone in your personal life to offer this to, even if it's just a friend?

They could probably meet and get to know each other first

Geez, if it doesn't pass your "smell" test just move on. Maybe it will pass someone elses smell test. Good grief.

Geez, we're just having a civilized conversation here. Agree to disagree

I agree with you and was thinking the same thing when I first read it. I mean who would create a flyertalk profile just to offer their "generosity" to complete strangers. You'd have to be completely naive to take the OP's post at face value.

And maybe they'll be the next victim of identity theft.

Maybe the OP plans to try to sell the use of the companion pass to someone?

Wasn't someone with a purchased lifetime AA companion pass accused of doing this because he used it a lot and generally with different people?

Ok thanks I didn't think I was crazy. OTOH, if it was a vet that has built up a lot of credibility here I would've said "Wow that's an awesome gesture, you're so generous!"

But I'd still insist on an in-person meeting first.

If there's a common root cause to trouble on these forums, it's underestimating the intelligence of our readers. If you think that you are the only one here smart enough to figure something out, you are certainly wrong.

I have complete confidence in the ability of our members to distinguish a scam from a genuine offer. I mean, we are often the ones running scams on the travel companies!

No scam, just playing within the rules of the game as written by the travel companies. Some plays just work better than others.

On the OP, I'd hope for sincerity but it probably won't work as a practical matter. Schedules change too much.
