New Ugly flight options

I really like WN a lot, but it looks like the new booking platform could serve some ugly flight options to those not paying attention (19:15 hours of travel time):

4 Stops/1 Plane Change

#2599 Operated by Southwest
Depart Buffalo/Niagara, NY (BUF) 6:00am
Stops:Tampa, FL Denver, CO Kansas City, MO

#2599 Operated by Southwest
Arrive in Oakland, CA (OAK) 5:30pm

#5312 Operated by Southwest
Change Plane in Oakland, CA (OAK) 8:35pm

#5312 Operated by Southwest
Arrive in Salt Lake City, UT (SLC) 11:15pm

What kind of a person books a 19:00 flight with four separate stops and a connection, including flying in the wrong direction, when four carriers (AA, UA, DL, and B6) all offer the same routing in just over 6 hours for around $240 and includes seat assignments?

You can "really like WN" all you want, but even if you make minimum wage, WN needs to be paying you for this ticket.

Looks like you might have found the runner-up for elapsed time, with the current winner for total stops (at least reported here) still being a choice of two SJU-SEA on Sundays in May:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/south...-2-2017-a.html

SIX stops: SJU-MCO-BHM-HOU-ELP-LAS-SMF-SEA 18+45
FIVE stops: SJU-FLL-DCA-HOU-LAX-OAK-SEA in a whopping 19+45

For comparison purposes, Qantas #8 DFW-SYD is currently in the air, projecting an on-time arrival after a 17+5 minute flight in an Airbus 380-800. Not sure if they've started yet, but Emirates is doing Aukland to Dubai in a B777-200LR booked at 17+15. So only another 2+30 (assuming everything on-time) to do SJU-SEA on SWA

That flight alone should qualify you for CP.

Which date are you looking at?

I just picked one date at random and they offered me a choice of six one-stops, with change of planes at either MDW, Phoenix or Las Vegas. Your itinerary wasn't listed, so maybe it depends on day of week.

Sat May 13th. It isn't an option every day.

I know people who have done this sort of thing on other airlines. Of course, that was in First Class and it was also a mileage run. And they like planes.

I love the new reservation system! From AMA to SAN, there is a 16 hour and 35 minute trans continental and back flight options with 6 stops and 1 plane change......

Unfortunately for WN flyers, this would still only count as a single one-way "flight" for qualification purposes.

My favorite from Amarillo is 6 total stops headed to Tampa, then coming BACK across the US to end in... San Diego. 16h35m.

or are trying to use the least possible number of miles on a award ticket and will actually take the DEN-SEA-EWR-MIA-PNS route that United claims is the only available saver option to get home on that date.

Not 6 segments, but it also looks like the new system also routes flights that require connections made in the same metro area/co-terminals.

ONT-LAS-LAX-OAK
OAK-LAX-PHX-ONT
OAK-BUR-SJC-SEA

I know traffic in the LA and Bay areas can be bad, but I'm pretty sure it's faster to drive between LAX and Ontario or Oakland and San Jose... (Either that or WN should change RR to be segment based, not trip based!)
