Need to carry Companion Pass card?

First time as a Companion Pass member.. just received the card for my companion.. do we need to carry this card or present it when boarding? Or does it serve no purpose?

I have never been asked for it in 15+ years. Maybe it would be useful if the computers crashed and you didn't have a paper boarding pass in hand for the companion.

Scan into cell phone

I don't have a companion pass card here handy to try it out but wondering if it could just be scanned into your Apple Wallet, Samsung Pay or Android pay app?

Have had one for many years, never needed...even when companion is checking bags or when itinerary changes mid-trip.

I never have either but recall reading here of someone at an airport demanding it. Probably someone in power making up their own rules (again).

I keep it, along with my A-List card and free drink passes, in my backpack that goes on every trip with me. Never needed it as companion is on their own reservation/boarding pass, but doesn't kill me to keep it in my backpack in the event faced with the ridiculous rule-making GA.

Never been asked. Keep a photo of it on your phone in case.

Nice idea.. I actually keep my drink passes in my Bose QC20 case.. I wonder if the companion pass will fit in it.. I'll try it when I get home!

Only reason I ever needed my CP card was to take a picture of it to use as proof of status to status match for another airline!

Had a CP since they were introduced. Never had to use the card.

But, the A+ card comes in handy when checking a bag and not holding a boarding pass.

Completely unnecessary when everything can be verified with a few clicks. Plus the "alarm" that should go off at boarding if the 2 are separated.

But get that 1 in a million employee...
