Last minute ATL to LGA

Hi all,

I just found out that my aunt from overseas will be visiting NYC this upcoming Labor Day weekend. As you know, prices right now for this trip are outrageous. I was about to book a round trip flight for 32,000 points, unfortunately I had to wait to book until later today. When I went back on Southwest's website the trip now costs 44,000 points which is 12,000 more than I have. I'm currently a student so buying points or buying a different flight is out of my budget. Is it possible that the points for this trip will decrease in value as time passes, or do I need to immediate start looking for other travel arrangements?

Thanks,
Mandeep

Look at Frontier and Spirit for purchasing a ticket.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately these flights are going for $300 - $400.

There are plenty of available nonstop flights between ATL and LGA for 16k points or less on Labor Day weekend. Keep looking and try first thing each morning when fare buckets refill.

More than likely won't go down, being a holiday weekend.

How about booking with points on Southwest one way and paying for a flight the other way?

The trip from ATL to LGA is 28,000 points from what I see. Are you seeing something different?

All 5 non-stops next FRI are 28k. 21k first thing SAT morning, and 16k at both 3:40 and 4:40.

Returns on SUN are at 6k and 9k. MON morning is 16k

Thanks all for the help. I ended up booking a round trip flight for 28,000 points with an arrival on Saturday morning and a departure on Monday morning.

If you have Avios (or a friend with some), check AA availability through BA website. Would be 15k plus $11.20 RT.

This may open up at the last second if not there now. You can then save the WN points by cancelling.
