I've always wanted to go to Costa Rica. And I was running out of new places to visit in the Caribbean. This is great news indeed! ^

And hopefully departing from more than just a few airports. Having to travel from AUS all the way to BWI to get to Costa Rica isn't all that efficient.

I'd guess they'll open up other gateways if it's a popular route. More competition into SJO will hopefully bring prices down.

Nice. United from IAD demands that everyone connect in Newark or Houston - at least for the March '15 week I checked.

Not yet. Not unless to subject of foreign government approval. They have to be approved. You won't book a ticket. You have wait for a while. It is too early to book a ticket.

Actually, no. Airlines sometimes allow flights to be booked before government approval. Southwest allowed all their Mexico flights to be booked months before government approval. They had a notice when searching saying that the flights are subject to government approval. I would expect these to be bookable very soon.
