Has anyone that has spent close to 2K (but not over 2K) had their pts gifted early to them by Chase?

If so, how close were you to the 2k? What's a safe amount to stay under to avoid points being awarded early.

or an in-airport offer that's better than the 40k offer online.

I just saw a post yesterday (facebook group maybe?)...someone spotted the 50k offer in a booth in an airport. If I can find the post again, I'll share any additional info.

edit:
Found it, this is all they shared...
"Sitting in the Phoenix airport and there's a booth to sign up for a Southwest credit card and get a 50,000 bonus but it's too early and it's not open yet. "

I was approximately $250 shy of hitting 2k on two different cards and had no problem. But there are others who won't spend a dime until the new year. It really depends on your risk tolerance.

If you do decide to go at it this way here are some important things to consider:

1) Make absolutely sure you card is not used for any automatic payments.

2) Confiscate any authorized user cards to ensure there are no unexpected charges.

These are not the only things that can go wrong. There is always the risk fraudulent charges, getting double charged, or having a pending charge you may have forgotten about reappear 10 days later.

In hindsight, if I were to do it again, I probably wouldn't have cut it that close. For me I would feel pretty comfortable with a $500 buffer.

On one card my last statement closed on Dec. 7th. The next statement closes on Jan. 7th, 2018. Since Dec. statement already closed, can I go ahead and meet the 2K spend now? Or should I be waiting til Jan 2018 to complete the spending.

Here is more info:
Application approved 10/9
90 day spend deadling is 1/7/18

In my opinion, and the way things have been in the past, you should be good to go. I finished my minimum spend in early December after my statement closed and the bonus posted in January. But you never know if or when things are going to change. Like I said earlier, it depends on your risk tolerance. Let us know what you decide and what the outcome is.

I came to ask this exact question, except I am 1/4/18. Interested to hear others pontificate.

If you SM Chase and ask you will probably find out that have until late January to complete the spend

My wife applied 9/29 and has until January 23 to make her spend. Her next statement closes ~ 12/20 and we are making the entire spend on 12/31

My husband and I both applied for the biz version. I met my spend around early Nov and got my bonus miles and Companion Pass within days. My husband met his spend on Nov 12, already received the credit card statement. But the bonus miles and Companion Pass did not post to his Southwest account. Only the miles for the amount he spent got posted. When he called Chase, the first guy was clueless. He told us to call Southwest. Then when we called Chase again, another guy said the bonus and Companion Pass will post Dec 12. Today is Dec 12, I have yet see any of that in his account. Has this happen to any one before?

Here is the only uncertainty: I usually take screenshots of my applications including the promotion page. But I forgot to take the screenshot of the promo page for his application. I can’t remember if I originated the application through the promotion link. But subsequent screenshots of his application show the exact same URL with the same promo codes int the URL in my application screenshots. I assume since the URL contact the same promo ID, we should be safe, right?

Has anyone taken a long time before getting their bonus and Companion Pass? Thanks in advance for any info.

Is this the California companion pass deal ?

Are the 60K miles on his credit card statement from Chase ?

Has he ever had the Southwest Business card before ?

Yes, it's the California Companion Pass deal.
His last Southwest Biz card was cancelled in January 2013
The 60K miles did not show up in the Chase statement. Only miles from the spending amount was on the statement.

Unless you somehow found a link with no bonus my guess if he didn't complete the spend in time to get the bonus points on the statement

Given that the Cali deal was first purchase for companion pass my guess is that something else is also wrong, GL

Update: I just saw the Companion Pass in his RR account. But the bonus miles have not shown up. :-)

You must have used the correct link to apply so I'm sure the points will follow

FYI a data point for anyone who is applying for 2 cards: Submitted application #1 at beginning of October for WN Plus personal card - approved. Submitted appl. #2 mid-Dec for WN Premier card - approved. For the second card I got a call from Chase and had to re-allocate some credit (moved from the WN Plus card ;)) but no questions as to why I wanted 2 cards. So no need to apply for the business card (which may require a more detailed underwriting inquiry) unless you need the 60k signup bonus.

I have $5k in charges that I need to run in the next week, but alas can't risk the points posting early... :(
