New A-Lister -- am I getting the 25% bonus?

When I view my RR history, I see the flight detail (pasted below).

Flight: FLL-MCO-PVD Wanna Get Away $111.63
Government Taxes & Fees: $29.77
Dollar Total: $141.40

How many points should I have earned and what's the math behind it?

thanks for helping a newbie!

You need to look at your email confirmation and see what the 'base fare' and 'excise taxes' add up to ( this was the 'advertised fare' ). That is the number that you are getting points on.

Other than complaints about rounding errors, no one has complained here that the points are being calculated wrong. I can assure you that the screaming would be huge if WN were calculating points incorrectly.

It should be (6 * 1.25) * AdvertisedFare. The advertised fare includes some, but not all, of the government taxes & fees. My best guess in your case is that the advertised fare was $129. So $129 * 6 * 1.25 = 967.5 points.

I'm not sure if they round up or down to the nearest whole point, however.

Thanks for the replies. I got 720 points credited. Guess I'll give Southwest a call to see what's going on. I think I was shortchanged on a second itinerary too.

$111.63 * 1.075 (excise tax) = $120
$120 WGA Advertised Fare X 6 = 720 points (base points - these count towards Tier Qualifying)
720 X 1.25 (A-List Bonus) = 900 total points. (redeemable points)

So you didn't get the A-list bonus. I suspect you made the reservation before achieving A-list. Flights booked before A-list are not A-list flights without calling.
