My first impression on....

Big announcements either:

1. Makes me nervous (what else can the airlines take away?) OR

2. Results in hyped marketing that usually doesn't produce much.

But only selected flights before 7 AM or after 10 PM, and with a very limited number of seats. A friend of a friend I heard got one of those $39 fares last year.

So far, all I see on the WN website regarding air fare specials involves Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Not so great...

Hot diggety-dog! Woke up this morning to find Ding telling me "We're amped to celebrate 40 years of service!" With trembling fingers, dreams of $40 fares and ready to forgive the boys for what they've done with RR2 and the new website, I eagerly clicked through to find out what my reward was. I've got 4 airports in my Ding list, so I was confident of the ample rewards which awaited me.

And sure enough....my 40th anniversary Ding specials consisted of exactly one offering: Tampa to Nashville for $99.

Looks like I'll be celebrating WN's birthday by booking some flights on AA today.

But think of all valuable points you'll earn! Did you know you can use them to travel international first class!?!

I should have said 'specials.' This is what WN is calling them...

So far the only thing I've seen today is the posts on SW's Facebook about the Conservation Tour

http://www.southwest.com/tour40/

If that's what the OP was referring to I think he's guilty of a bit of hyperbole.

This is big announcement for WN today.

I see no "specific new nonstop or new city" anywhere in that announcement.
