Delay in posting, view out-of-sync
Has anyone else noticed that the website is not posting cancellations, new flights, etc. in a timely fashion. Back in the RR1 days, these changes posted by the time you could refresh your display. A cancel and a new reservation I made over an hour ago have not posted. I can view them by specifying them by the PNR number, but they're not appearing in my future flights list.

Yes, I noticed that yesterday when I booked a flight. Not sure how long the delay to show the new flight was - I went back a couple hours later and it was there.

Yes, becomes a problem when trying to quickly book myself and companion. Book myself then come back to southwest.com in 30+ minutes to book companion.
Speaking of website issues, yesterday I attempted to book a RR2 award flight and got errored out when trying to finalize the purchase. Come back to account at 9pm last night to find the points were in fact taken out and attached to a confirmation number (I did not receive any confirmation email). Tried viewing the reservation with that confirmation and got an error. Spent over an hour on hold and then 30 minutes speaking with customer service. Apparently she had to call the IT help desk and have them resolve the situation as my points were "hung up" in the system. What a joke. |
Synchronization issue?
As someone who programmed relational database software in a former life, this appears to me to be an issue regarding a 'view' into the database. The underlying transactions in the 'real' database appear to have happened, but whatever software routine is 'viewing' the database to show us our own stuff appears to be looking at a copy of the database that was made at some time in the past and is out of sync with the real database. What with the new demands placed on them by RR2, maybe the Southwest servers can't keep up with real-time requests anymore. Apparently there is a 'sync' operation done every so often (1-3 hours?) to catch the 'viewable' database up with the 'real' database. Anybody know what the underlying database software is? Oracle?

I booked a RR1 ticket for my husband at 1:40 p.m. I'm still waiting for the reservation to show up in the account (over TWO HOURS LATER!!) so I an book my CP ticket. Ridiculous!

And now that I've looked, even though I booked all tickets when signed in under my account, I can see her tickets when logged into her account instead. |

ahhh, probably didn't write it down eh? dang!!.... well if you did write it down, all you need is that conf number and you can book your companion reservation. |
Why should it be necessary to have written down the confirmation number? I think expecting the confirmation to immediately show in the account is an extremely reasonable expectation.
Of course, with WN, I guess we should have no expectations. |

what does "showing up in the account" have to do with anything? did you get a confirmation number for your husband?

Where did I say in my post that I didn't have the confirmation number??? I had the confirmation number, that didn't make a difference. Have you booked a CP reservation in RR2? Would you like to let me know how one does that without having the CP partner's original reservation present in the account? That would be very helpful. I want to do this online, no phone calls to a CSR. Thanks! No snark necessary...:) |

Whose account? You have to be logged in as the person for whom the ticket is assigned in order for it to show up. (ie I booked tickets for my wife and I for ISP-MCO. When I log in as myself, I can only see my ticket - not hers).
I was logged into my husband's account so I could book my Companion Pass ticket. I am the companion to my husband. My husband's reservation did not show up in HIS account until over three hours later. Today, both confirmation numbers show up in husband's account; his above, with mine below it (labeled as "companion" to the left). |
The delay seems to be improving somewhat - I just booked a trip for me and a CP within 10 minutes of each other (not sure exactly when it refreshed - I went back every few minutes to see if my reservation had shown up in the upcoming trips section).
