Las-bna tonight cancelled. What can I expect?

Was scheduled to fly las-bna tonight at 6:20, arriving bna at 11:55. Flight cancelled due to weather, even though other flights to/from bna are arriving and departing (or scheduled) with an average 15 min delay, per FAA website. All airlines are operating fine, including other southwest flights.

Southwest airport agent claim is a weather delay, but I suspect they just don't want to pay compensation.

What can I expect? No reroute in other airlines? No hotel voucher? No compensation of any type?

Was rebooked for tomorrow night, at the same late flight (apparently the only option).

Any help greatly appreciated.

This may help. It is the real time flight information page from the airport.

It is an absolute mess here in Nashville. I fly out tomorrow and am staying next to the airport. It took 2.5 hours to drive the last 50 miles. Snow is just now letting up and it is getting cold fast. Roads are glaze ice. Stay in Vegas if you can.

I would not expect any of those remedies from WN.

Your claim of 15 minute average delay is not backed up by www.flightstats.com . They say BNA has excessive delays and a look at the arrivals page shows many canceled flights and many flights delayed over 1 hour.

Thanks. Indeed the FAA updated the website later, and reflected more cancellations/delays. WN seems to have the most cancellations at night, even while other airlines like CO, UA or DL flew at that time (e.g. from IAH, ORD and ATL) late night.

Anyway, I'll just stay another night at a 4* hotel in Vegas for under $40, awesome

It's weather. Why would you suspect they would say that to avoid compensation? That would be illegal and it's easy to find out whether the flight was canceled for weather issues. Don't rely on the FAA website for the most up to date info. You are not entitled to anything for a weather delay.

I'm guessing South Point, which is nice but several miles south of the strip.

You shoulda flown on United as 1K if you wanted a comp for a weather cancellation/delay.

I had the option between Rio or Harrah's for $40 on Sunday (4* vs 3.5* per hotels.com). Got Harrah's. A nice free upgrade to deluxe with a high floor and view to the strip. It was awesome. Best of all, no resort fee.

Agree. This is one of the trips where I picked WN only because of non-stop to BNA (which I'm traveling more and more often).

Anyway, not too bad an extra day in Vegas, besides the extra money loss in the casino

Clearly, you suspected wrong. Need a little more experience under your belt before speculating on SW motives.

Not clearly. But likely wrong. Truth is swa did cancel flight when other airlines landed safely (though with delays) at night, eg CO night flight from iah, UA flight from ord, etc. I don't know whether that means swa cares more about safety than other airlines, or other airlines had better info than swa, or swa didn't want a long delay and canceled blaming it on weather, etc.
