Question Penguins. In the front row. With handlers.

There are two penguins in the front seat of flight 959 (8:20a SAN->OAK). Apparently they will be walked around the plane later. Is this a common occurrence? I didn't see anything on the Southwest twitter account and haven't been able to find any information in general.

Yup, that's Penny and Pete from SeaWorld. They have been flying with us for all of the 15 years I have been with Southwest.

This is part of why I love Southwest. On any other airline, one would probably automatically assume it was not normal. But on Southwest, you never know.

Do the penguins have to buy EB? Can one penguin be a CP holder and take along his other penguin friend? Can they board together at the lower boarding number?

Inquiring minds need to know.

Since the FA's have been the Riddlers and the Jokers, it was only a matter of time before The Penguin came aboard. Who next ? +1 for Catwoman.

do they fly all day or was it just a site transfer for the little couple? I'm sure a lot of business travelers got a kick out of it and had something to talk to their clients about, but I'm betting it would make a the tail end of a long weekend flight with kids go soooo much faster.

I've wanted to fly with Pete and Penny forever.

Is there anyway of knowing in advance what flights they will be on? A donation to the southwest charity?

I remeber several years ago there was a thread regarding how the penguins would need to get by TSA.

Does anyone know WHY the penquins regularly fly on Southwest? I can understand a one time flight to move them to a new home/zoo, but don't understand the repeated, routine penquin flights. lol

Their wings are too small to fly themselves south for the winter.
