Just went through FLL for the first time in a while. At security I noticed that the initial I'd checker (not TSA) was making people put their bags in a luggage sizer. They actually turned someone away.

Today I didn't have a carry on, but on Monday morning I will. What is the deal with this? My bag fits wheels out on all Delta planes, but it LOOKS like it won't. For reference, it fits the baggage sizers at LHR as long as its not 110% stuffed.

Any experiences with the jokers manning the luggage sizer?

It is never a good idea to argue with a bureaucrat who's wearing a uniform. The baggage checked can veto your bag. Mostly they seem to go after post-cruise passengers, but it is a good idea to underpack a bit.

If there is a long line of post-cruise passengers, look for another check point.

I saw a Spirit (NK) employee doing this on Monday morning at 0600 when i was getting into the security line. I am not sure if this is a regular thing or not but I have never seen US do it at FLL.
