HELP: What to wear. . . (lol)

So, I am at a crossroads . . . I don't know what to wear. Since my personal stylist is on vacation (wish i actually had one) I need some help. I haven't traveled on a non-business itinerary in a while were the temperature gradient is so great. I am going from the fridgid ISP to PBI tomorrow. It is forecasted to be 15 degress but feel like -1F when I leave . . . when I get to PBI it should be 62F. So how do I dress??? It might be an amateur question BUT, I'm actually serious - there is nobody to impress tomorrow so, I can wear whatever. How do you stay comfrotable across temperature gradientts so great??

I usually go with casual slacks and a button down shirt for flying regardless of where to/from. It's easy enough to roll up the sleeves when you get somewhere warm. If it is very cold at the origin/destination, I bring a light wool sweater in my carry on. If you get the UG it is also very easy to have them hang a warm coat if need be.

First option what I usually do...

I've always worn a sportcoat/jacket and button up when flying. Easy to take off the jacket when hot, put on when cold. The jacket is also handy because of all the pocket.

What I've done other times...

Wear shorts, wear PBI weather clothes from the beginning. It reinforces that you're going to a WARM destination and everybody else should be jealous.

I usually go the opposite direction (Warm to Cold) but I generally do the following:

Wear:
Jeans and a button up shirt and sports jacket.

Pack (in Carry-on or Check-In):
Gloves, scarf, and thick jacket.

----
Airports are generally kept quite warm, so when arriving in the cold I have time to get my jacket and winter gear out. On the return, I take a few moments to pack away the cold weather gear before getting on the airplane.

Really the only complaint I have on this method is the 30 seconds spent walking down the jetway.

Part of the solution is where you sit on the plane. If you're in Row 8 out of ISP (I think it's all CRJs there...), it's going to be pretty cold on the plane, so I'd dres a little warm.

I've given up on row 8 . . . I am in row 4 this trip. I have had my butt fall asleep too many times in that row. Also, it's too cold for my thin blood.
Thanks for the great advise . . . I was nervous I was going to get flammed for this post - unfortunately, I was dead serious about not knowing what to wear.
I think I'll probably pass on wearing shorts but, the rest sounds good!!
Thanks Again,
SR

When in doubt, layer.

You never return to your point of departure? Or do you stay away until the seasons change?

I fly LGA-FLL a few times a year, most recently a couple of weeks ago, when I was in the same situation. Layers, as others have posted, is always the way to go. I started out in NYC in jeans, a tee shirt and a wool sweater. Got to Florida, off with the sweater. (And since I had room in my suitcase, I threw my winter coat in there once I got into the terminal - one less thing to deal with at security).

lol thats what i do too. its all mind over matter-you're going to a warm place, so these shorts and this button up flower shirt will be warm enough

Actually, it's pretty cold this morning in many parts of Florida.

Although the OP might already be in the air and it is a moot point, I am moving this thread over to the Florida board which is the proper home for a question like this.

Might be late now... But it is 54 just north of FLL right now... And last nite it was about 39... So a thick jacket might be handy at this point in time... lol...

Was at a bar last nite... And a guy came in in a fur coat... That was quite sight...

As for flying from the north to the south... I wore a polo tee, had a hoodie over that... And then a columbia ski jacket over that... As I got into the airport up north, i stripped down to my hoodie... And when I got into the plane, i stripped down to my polo tee... And when I got out of the airport down south, i was in my tee and shorts...

Have fun and stay warm... This didn't sound quite right... lol But... stay warm... :D
