OT: South Beach dining
While off topic, there seem to be a lot of Miami regulars on the AA board, and I'm looking forward to your advice!
Any solid recommendations re: a dinner date on South Beach? It sounds like a frighteningly hit or miss area. Was good at The Restaurant at the Setai, but after reading reviews on the internet, I'm about to pull my reservation. I'm willing to splurge, but only if it's worth it. Many thanks in advance! |
Wish in Miami is an outstanding restuarant, and great for a date.
Recommended dishes: Fois Gras Tuna tartare (I know everyone has it, but there's is special) Crispy Snapper with Jasmine rice (If you don't like fish, their pork chop is supposed to be great. Also their crab salad). Enjoy! |
There is a Food/Retaurant forum with all the same members posting reviews and recommendations for just about any area in the world. There are many members that live there as well as travel to Miami and are real foodies.
I believe there is also a Miami specific forum.... AA forum? |
If you want to be in the scene then the Setai will do you just fine and has excellent food...
Other options that are very hot (and good) right now are: Prime 112 - Steak Casa Tua - Italian and always ... Nobu - Japanese Enjoy you trip here and you really can't miss with any of the above including the Setai. |
Consistently one the best restauarant in Miami not only the beach is Nemo
eclectic menu somewhat slighted toward seafood. I go there reapeatedly for the Sea bass best I ever had anywhere. There is an adjurning Asaian restuarant Shouji ?? where the fried cheececake in honey is to die for. Also one of best rated Italian reatuarants - Osteria Del Teatro. Of the one listed above Prime 112 is also very good, but are geared towards steaks. Nobu is also quite good but there are sister restaurants in Vegas, New York, London which I personally think might be better. Also very good, Alta Mar for seafood. Othe recommendation Talulas - nice outdoor seating if the weather is not too hot. mike |
Got All Excited for a moment...

But alas, realized it was about actual dining IN South Beach, Miami... Back to scanning the headlines ... and munching on my morning celery sticks... :p |
My 17-year old son enjoyed the belly dancers at Taverna Opa.

Unless you want to remain in the south Miami Beach area, I'd like to offer a nearby alternative (just over the causeway from MB): Michy's the new restaurant by Michelle Bernstein, the talented chef who was formery at the highly-rated Azul at the Mandarin Oriental. The place has something of a south Miami Beach ambiance, but it's very food-focused (beer and wine only):
