#3 is terrific and is a must IMO.

I would add to this list the following:

Jai-Alai Fronton of Tampa
5125 S. Dale Mabry Highway
(813) 831-1411

Fort DeSoto Park has some of the most beautiful beaches in all of Florida. http://www.fortdesoto.com/

Dining at Columbia Restaurant http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/

Eating a "Cuban" sandwich, many good locations for these. For those who have not had one, a Cuban sandwich is Cuban bread (think French Baguette but fatter, more airy), sliced smoked ham, roast pork, swiss cheese, pickle slices, Mustard, Mayo. The sandwich is then put in a double sided hot press and heated so that the bread becomes very crispy and the ingredients get warmed. Easily one of the best sandwiches ever invented, SOOOO GOOOD!!!!

Nice list though I cannot say I agree with # 5 ( or # 7)

Salt Rock has been one of my favorites on the FL west coast for a while now.

Willie sorry to disappoint you but the Jai-Alai fronton has been closed for some years now.
Also in my opinion the food at the Columbia in Sarasota ( same owners) is a lot better than the Ybor location

That is a disappointment, When the season was on, I always liked going at least once when I would travel to Tampa.

Three words: Raymond James Stadium!

And to all those weathering the storm today, my toughts and prayers are with you!

Thank God Tampa was spared from the storm, and my beloved Bucs!

www.tbo.com has a number of charities for those inclined to help out those hit by the hurricane. Anyone inclined to help?

Columbia Ybor City....

I went there for a weekend lunch recently. Food's basic, not very flavourful, and way too oversalted. Not much better quality than a decent mom 'n pop Cuban.

Regretfully, there don't appear to be any "real" Cuban restaurants in Ybor city.

Ybor has gotten too expensive rental-wise for the family run Cuban places.
Some of the best Cuban restaurants are comcentrated on Columbus east of Mc Dill ( the street not the AFB) La Teresita is perhaps the best known.
Plus a some on Armenia both north and south of Columbus.

mike

P.s I did warn you stay away from the Ybor Columbia, interesting building and cigar bar but thats it.

One wouldn't have thought so. I am not sure if Ybor City is on its way up, or down. Other than for the nightclub crowd, it doesn't look that busy.

Thanks. Any good ones in particular? I'll be in Tampa again this weekend (lunch at El Puerto, dinner ????)
