Key West Trip

My daughter and her friends are planning a graduation (High School) trip to Key West. They have a package staying at the Beachside Holiday Inn. Does anyone know anything about this hotel or the general area? Dad is concerned about the safety of his "little" girl.

Thanks

Ok, so no one seems to know? Does anyone know where I can get some independent information about this area?

Thanks USAFan. I had seen that information and have talked with the hotel, but I was hoping that some FT had some more independent knowledge of the area. Sounds safe so far.

I've been there 3x (2000, and 2x in the early 90s). Key West is generally very safe for visitors. Basically, the only risk you run into is if you lose control of yourself such as excessive alcohol/drug intoxication and losing control of the situation as a result, or stupidity in other acitivities such as diving into water, driving jet skis at unsafe speeds, etc. As long as your daughter is sensible, she should be quite safe.

Where her Holiday Inn is located is a rather strip mall-ish area. Nothing sinister. The only thing I'd worry about is traffic as it's situated on the main road to the more-popular part of KW.

Second this as there seems to be a drinking mix of rednecks and tourists after 10pm. But then your daughter is only of high school age and does not drink anyway.
