New Orleans
I'm visiting New Orleans for the first time. Planning a November trip and am trying to wait for the best airfares. Any scoop on the best time to buy or is November a preferred travel time to NO? Any recommendations on must see sites in NO?

www.neworleansonline.com is a great site for ideas. Self-guided walking tour maps, listings, even discount coupons you can print out. You can also order their free guidebook to be mailed to you, but all the guidebook info is on their web site as well.
The French Quarter is fairly compact and you'll be able to walk everywhere within it. Then venture out to the Garden District if you have the time. Lots to see and do there as well. The one and only "must do" for me is Beignets at Cafe Du Monde. Everything else is just icing on the cake. New Orleans is my favorite city in the United States, primarily for the French Quarter. |

Absolutely, positively, do not miss the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Preservation Hall is in the French Quarter and has shows nightly if I recall correctly. They are inexpensive (tickets were around $5 to $7 or so), the building is a bit run down, sometimes it gets crowded, but you will hear the best jazz music you have ever heard in your life. It will bring a tear to your eye and send chills up your spine at how pure and good the music is. A riverboat tour can make for a fun afternoon. I think we took a trip on the Natchez and it stopped at some civil war battlefields and we saw some mansions. Have a great trip.

Try "New* Orleans" for the search. The search engine will not accept a word less than four letters!
