Immigration & Customs at Nashville (BNA)

Hi. I hope this is the right forum. I have visited the US once in December 2022 and went through Atlanta for POE, it was easy, the officer was lovely and I was asked no questions. I'm wanting to visit again to see my fiancé for Christmas this year. I have found a direct flight from LHR to BNA with British Airways. I wanted to ask how the Immigration Officer's are? Should I be worried about being grilled or are they genuinely quite friendly and relaxed?

I am aware they can be iffy with people visiting their partners but we are in the very early stages of the K1 visa process and I have no intentions of jeopardising this. I appreciate any advice that can be given...I just need reassurance.

if you are a UK citizen there should be nothing to worry about. Nashville doesn’t get a ton of international arrivals so it’s hard to predict how things will go depending on how many other internal flights are also coming in at the same time.

Atlanta is a major international arrivals airport so they are going to have more staffing and operate more efficiency.

I’ve gone through Nashville customs twice. It’s small. There is usually only one flight there at a time, so only a couple of agents. There is one baggage pickup place so everyone just kind of stands around waiting for luggage while being told to stay off their phones.

I have GE so I don’t interface with any agents, but the entire thing seems very calm and low key. The agents seem pretty friendly as they were processing people. Anything could happen, but it’s not a very stressful border station and it is the South so manners always help.

On September 25, BNA opened its new international arrivals terminal with a lot of fanfare. The OP should have an easy time entering the US there. I have flown that same BA flight twice back to BNA before the new terminal opened and immigration is not unpleasant at all. We are in the polite south(usually) after all.
