ATL Day Use Hotels
I haven't seen this discussed here before, apologies if I missed it (the phpbb search is not very good).
Given the often unavoidable ~10 hour day-time connections in ATL, the question comes up: are there any known good day-use hotels, where you can get a day-use room (8am~4pm) at a reasonable cost, preferably with some lunch options on-site or nearby?
I could of course start calling up the various nearby hotels one by one and ask them, but I thought I'd post here first, as surely other FTers have run into the often unavoidable day-long connections at ATL and may have some good recommendations/pointers/recommendations on this, esp. given that at ATL there isn't a directly connected hotel (like there is, say, the InterContinental at MSP, which does have a day-use option) and most of the neighborhood around ATL is rather sketchy, so where you stay does matter.
Edit: I have to correct myself, looks like there are a few "Gateway" hotels easily accessible via "SkyTrain." Either one of those is probably a good option for day-use, avoiding the too-often-frustratingly-slow shuttles. Any experience and knowledge of day use rates (it's not published) at these (or other) ATL airport hotels though?

The Airport Marriott offers daily rates. You can call them directly or checkout a site like dayuse.com. Living 15 minutes from the airport, I haven't needed to make use of the local hotels but it's an Airport Marriott so should be good enough for your needs.
If you're up for it, however, I'd recommend venturing into the city. There are several things worth seeing and that time allotment is perfect for a quick trip. Marta will take you into downtown and during the day it's safe and reliable.

Hilton allows booking day rates via app/online. Simply enter same date for arrival/ departure. Not all Hilton hotels offer day-rates, but if do it's fairly easy to book.

There is another airport Marriott which is a couple of miles away on Camp Creek Parkway and has been there over 40 years (I first stayed there in 1983).

You can also use day room booking sites like dayuse.com and hotelsbyday.com.
Resortpass.com will serve up day use for pools and spa areas and even some day use room options!

Thanks for the very helpful responses!
I had come across the Marriott ZDY day-use rate code, but there seems to be only one property in the area that has an actual ZDY rate filed (a farish-away Four Points Sheraton). Good trick with Hilton to do same arrival and departure date - never knew its possible! Though there isn't a single ATL airport area Hilton property with filed day use rates either. Both of these will be handy to know and use later elsewhere when searching, though.
I had searched dayuse.com, resortpass.com, daybreakhotels.com and had just one or zero results. Never came across hotelsbyday.com though, which actually has several results.
And thanks for the recommendation of heading into the city on MARTA. I've done that previously, and it is indeed the best use of time and generally a good idea, esp. as there are showers at the ATL SkyClubs (unlike, say, MSP, where there are none). But with two 8+ hour overnight flights and wanting to be in shape for the arrival day (after two consecutive nights of 'sleep' on plane), this time I think I'll skip it.

Depends entirely on your O&D. HNL -> EU full day layover is unavoidable given how DL schedules flights. Even via JFK, can't make the lone morning VS JFK-LHR, as HNL-JFK arrives 30 minutes after. Same is true for MSP, DTW, SLC. Full day (10 hours, give or take) layovers are unavoidable.
