Hurricane Isaias approaching Florida 01 Aug 2020

With a Hurricane approaching South Florida although not real strong I am surprised most airlines are operating a normal schedule into MIA, FLL, and PBI.

It's not that surprising. Both MIA and FLL are now outside of the "cone" for the storm. PBI is inside, but not by much.

Here's the current map (as of the 5am update on 8/1/20). The cone is between the blue lines. I included the "Most Likely Arrival Time of Tropical Storm Force Winds" as an overlay. Those are the black lines with the dates and times.

I'm fairly certain that all airports shut down once they reach Tropical Storm Force Winds (39 miles per hour). As you can see, none of the South Florida airports will reach that stage until after 8pm tonight.

I'm in Fort Lauderdale. Right now, it looks to be a nice morning. Some patchy clouds and no wind.

I'm in Miami. Some rain, no wind. Not sure what it will be like later. Things are quite calm here.

Funny enough I just posted about this in the DL forum here.

It really depends on what the weather is forecast to be at the time of arrival. This isn't a very major storm and most of south FL will only have some moderate winds. If there aren't any severe cells in the area and the crosswind limit isn't exceeded, there's no real need to cancel things.
