Destination spas in the southeast?

I am trying to organize a several-day stay at a spa/fitness resort for me, my mother, and my two future sisters-in-law. I’m in New Orleans, my mom’s in NJ, one FSIL is in Florida and the other is in South Carolina. What I’m looking for is something like The Lodge at Woodloch in the Poconos or Canyon Ranch in Lenox MA—a smallish, self-contained place with spa services and also fitness and wellness classes. I don’t want to be in some giant resort that has a spa attached. Unfortunately, I am striking out trying to find something in a location that will be vaguely central for all of us—the only thing that looks right is Westglow Resort and Spa in Blowing Rock, NC. If push comes to shove I will suggest that one, but it’s quite a shlep from any airport, so I’d rather go for something more convenient, if that exists. TIA for any suggestions!

Thoughts

Spa at Palmetto Bluff. Ritz at Reynolds Plantation. Cloister at Sea Island.

None are exactly like Canyon Ranch, but are pretty nice places for a weekend....

Thanks stan1162—those places are all much bigger than I’d like to deal with for this particular trip, but I appreciate the suggestions!

The Grove Park Inn in Asheville or The Ballantyne Resort & Spa in Charlotte? Either of those qualify? Both are pleasing and soothing to the senses

Have you considered the Greenbrier?

Thanks...all of the places mentioned are really enormous. The Greenbrier does have a decent range of activities but I’m hoping to be in a much smaller property (well under 100 rooms) that is all-inclusive with meals, classes etc. I guess there just are not that many places in that category beyond the ones I already listed. Sigh.

Hilton Head Health

Size is in line with your desire (75 max guests?), meals and classes included with an allowance for spa services.

Thanks, we have settled on Westglow in Blowing Rock. The Greenbrier is a massive resort, which is not what I was looking for.
