Immigration central terminal Miami

Flying into Miami in a few months. I heard that they now use facial recognition at immigration in the central terminal. Has anyone gone through there since they opened in February? If so, what was your experience? Asking, as I am traveling alone with my four year old and need to plan ahead. Thanks
