Flooding Charleston and Savannah

Hi,
i am from Germany and we have planed to visit Charleston and Savannah this weekend (10.9 - 10.13).
Do you think the flooding will be gone, so that we can do sightseeing?
Or is it bettet, to cancel the hotels and think about an alternative route?
Thank ypu?ww

I'm currently a little way from Charleston. Downtown is reopening and by the weekend things should be mostly back to normal though I suspect there will still be some road closures and the odd business shut. There has been no real rain for 12 hours and floodwaters are draining away. Savannah is business as usual I believe.

Savannah was below the rain line, as was Hilton Head. It's wet but no flooding, and actually this weekend should be lovely weather!

I have property on a beach near Charleston and friends who live there, so I have been monitoring the situation there. There is no doubt that much of Charleston area is flooded. Savannah got only a little rain.

If I were you, I would go to Savannah first. The longer Charleston has to clean up after the floods, the better. By this weekend, most places should be accessible, but it is hard to be absolutely sure as Charleston has never seen flooding like this , not even after Hurricane Hugo.

Total rainfall at SAV in October 1.44 inches (36.58 mm)
Total rainfall at CHS in October 17.32 inches (439.93mm)

So, clearly the situations are totally different
