Can anyone comment on the reliability/timeliness of the tri-rail for for getting between FLL and MIA? Where at FLL/MIA can I purchase these train tickets / Easy Cards?

Easy cards are sold at machines at the Tri-rail station. There is also a manned ticket bootn, but I don't know what its hours are.

Since it is a commuter system, reliability is pretty good. There is the rare day shutdown for urgent repairs, but most scheduled work is done on weekends.

The other important factorr is that you must take a shuttle bus (free) from the FLL Arrivals level to the station - about 2 miles. Shuttles are generally timed to match the trains.

Actually, you can take metrorail to Government Center station and go down on the grounds levels. You look for taxis. They will take you there. It's very easy to use.

Right! Tri-Rail is a right choice for me. I went MIA to see my friends. We went onto ramp tour. He gave me a escort badge. We saw 777-300ER, 787-9 Dreamliner, 747-400F, MD-11, DC-10, and etc. I remember Miami Airport and I remember the old airlines ticket counter. This is where they used to be. I haven't been at MIA for over a decade. I am very good memory.

What’s the latest on Tri-Rail? Still reliable from MIA to FLL and vice versa?

For the vets here, if one was near MIA and needed to catch an 8:30 AM flight out of FLL, what time would they want/need to be departing the MIA Tri-Rail station heading north? Thanks.

You can check the schedules here Tri Rail | South Florida Regional Transportation Authority
and figure out if there are early enough trains to fit your schedule. The FLL station should be linked to its shuttle schedule. The FLL shuttle is not always on schedule though, and takes an insane 20 min route to the airport. So I'd not be very optimistic about the public tranport option in this case.

Thanks for the reply. The trains start running at 4:00 am, which seemed like plenty of time to get to FLL.

Anyone have any recent MIA-to-FLL experience? The train ride itself is supposedly only about 45 minutes, which would be 65-75 minutes after the shuttle bus to FLL. Not sure how its working in reality, though. Thanks.
