I am just wanting to know if anybody would know about unpaid speeding fines in Florida. Somebody I know got a speeding fine 6 years ago and never paid it and came back home. Now they are wanting to return for a holiday and are wanting to know if they would be let in the country?

To elaborate, the 'traffic fine' computer and the 'can they come into the country' computer don't talk to each other.

Was it a local cop or Florida Highway Patrol that issued the speeding ticket?

The worst thing that would happen would be getting stopped for speeding again. That gets them right back in the "traffic fine" computer. But, I agree with others who say that the state and feds don't share info on low level criminal activity (traffic violations). They'll be let in and back out. Just drive with care - no more tickets (or accidents either).

If they failed to pay the fine (or contest the ticket), their right to operate in Florida will have been suspended and, as a reciprocal matter, in most other states. It is unlikely that they will be denied entry or arrested.

But, it is very likely that they will not be permitted to drive in the US and, if stopped by law enforcement for some other reason, they will be subjected to a much more serious offense for operating when their privilege to operate was suspended.

Easy solution for someone who can afford to fly here is to pay the stupid thing and be done with it.
