Bogota Colombia: 3-day side stay suggestions?
first time visit, priority photos: culture, street scenes, shopping, markets, dining, businesses, historic, recreation, daily life, etc.
Jun 22 -- Jul 7, so 15 nights total;
seeking side stay suggestions, say, within 3 hrs of Bogota via bus-train, 3 night stay, back to Bogota;
(locations with lodgings accepting hotel points a bonus)
prefer not much higher altitude, with wide variety of photo opportunities preferred;
thanks in advance
PS. also, are there any annual-special events in Bogota between Jun 22 & Jul 7?

Avoiding higher altitude is tricky in Colombia.
We love Villa de Leyva and go back whenever we can. You can take a very nice bus from the Salitre terminal or if you're staying at an upscale hotel I'm sure they can arrange a private car. It's about 3 hours. No chain hotels of course, but some nice smaller lodgings. It's a small town, so three days might be pushing it.
