Actually there is a free transfer from the San Antonio bus terminal to the cruise passenger terminal and San Antonio is a much less crowded and more relaxed city than Valpo. For lodging, I recommend nearby Santo Domingo, an old rich community whose original design around 70 years ago was based on Palos Verdes, California.

I definitely would not recommend running all over the city. We saw the presidential palace, went to their main plaza, saw Cerro Cristobal (the funicular wasn't working so took a bus)...personally I don't think any of it was a 'must-do'. It is certainly nice to walk around and take in the culture however there was nothing that stood out in particular for me. Depending on how much time you have, maybe a wine excursion?

Are there any must sees that you recommend? For neighborhood, am considering a highly rated boutique hotel in Providencia but if there are other neighborhoods that would be more convenient/better to sightsee, am totally open to suggestions. Thanks!
Tagle Hotel Boutique is located in Providencia and is a very beautful one to take advantage of your only night in Santiago
