+1 for the National Aviary. We visited a couple of years ago (Aug 2016) and were really impressed (though we went with no expectations, so that helped).

If you want to enjoy from the destination gastronomy, you can find really good gastronomic tours and cuisine classes on Yoplan.com. I took a day trip with them and I really enjoyed it.
