I was looking at hotels and was shocked to see that explora Rapa Nui goes for roughly $1,500 - $1,600 per night. Is that legit?

You'll find that there is not much (in fact, hardly any) in the way of international-grade tourist accommodation in Easter Island so what there is can charge a lot. Almost all the materials have to be brought in from the mainland which adds to cost.
