short TACA connection in San Salvador
Assuming my already ticketed flight is on time, I have a 57 minute connection in San Salvador --coming in from Lima on #416 and departing to IAD on #580. How far apart are the gates likely to be? Any tips?

Plenty of time. You don't have to go through passport control or customs since you're not officially entering El Salvador. Just walk to your new gate. All the TACA gates are in one area, so you won't have a long walk. There will probably be a secondary inspection of your carry-on bags at the gate. They do that for flights to the U.S., but it should be just fine.
