Weather Cancellation - Rebook on Another Carrier?
 
Hi Everyone,

A friend of mine is in Accra and his flight to Washington today was cancelled due to the snowstorm expected to hit DC. They are telling him the earliest they can get him back to DC is on the 19th (6 days from now!).

There is availability on Ethiopian via ADD, on Tap and Lufthansa via Lisbon and Frankfurt, and outside of Star BA has availability too, all which would get him to DC on the 15th. However SAA is refusing to rebook him on another carrier.

Has anyone had any experience with getting rebooked on another carrier either within or outside of Star Alliance? My experience with SA is very limited and I've never encountered IRROPS on them.
