how far in advance do redemptions open?
Hi,
Following the recent (or impending) VX dilution/revaluation, SAA now looks a better way to spend VX miles LHR to JNB. Try as I might, I can't work out when bookings open, or what the penalty/charge is for a change if I book a return placeholder, and then swop a couple of weeks later to the flight we want as it opens for booking.
Can any kind soul please point to a link I can check that out on.

Flights are open for booking 330 days in advance. No firm rules for redemption but typically booking 5-6 months out gets me the best result, especially in J.
LHR-JNB has quite good availability
Fees to change bookings are astronomical IMHO.
