SAA Step-Up Program Advice
Hi there - I am going to South Africa in January 2017 for my Honeymoon. We are flying from NYC to CapeTown (via JBN) on SAA. Looking at their site it appears a Economy ticket costs between $800-$1400 depending on fare class, but a Business ticket is $3600 (each way)....obviously a significant difference! I am a Platinum United member but sadly it appears there is no miles availability / option.
I am curious whether anyone has used the Step-Up feature, and what the success rate has been like? What advice people can give on bids to make (minimum? Slightly above minimum? etc).
