Corkage fee equivalent for cigars?
You wouldn't expect to drink your own alcohol at a bar, but I have never been to a cigar bar that expected you to only consume cigars purchased there. (Of course I am not referring to cigar shops or cigar lounges whose main business is selling cigars.)
Until today. The bar at the Grand Palace Hotel in Riga, affiliated with Hilton, charged me EUR 6 as a "cigar fee." They have a small cabinet humidor. I can't say I have a major issue with this, though it wasn't disclosed beforehand as far as I could tell, even when they brought an ashtray and cutter. I shrugged it off as it's a nice place and the service is good. Has anyone else come across this? I am actually surprised that it's not more common.
