Smoking rooms available at the Hampton Inn Charleston - Mt. Pleasant - Patriot's Point (I'm in one now).

Useful. CHS is on our short list of E. Coast options for the future.

Charleston is worth a visit. I would also combine it with a few days in Savannah, about two hours south (Candlewood Suites for smoking options).

The Charleston hotel is a fairly straightforward Hampton - nothing special obviously, but the room had a comfortable bed, a hot shower and an ashtray, which is all I'm particularly fussed about.

Cheers! Hotels is my wife’s department (also a smoker!) so I will pass this info on to her. She will also seeking Shopping Malls and Outlets, but Battlefields are a joint interest ... hotels are just for sleeping in this context!

Done SAV, and enjoyed a lot ... that’s partly why CHS got onto the agenda.
Not BA to the USA, via DUB (of course)

Charleston is a very strong choice from military history. I'm glad you enjoyed Savannah - I thought it was a very relaxing place to spend a few days. Your TR was a nice read whilst relaxing on East River Street with a coffee and a cigarette.

I'm now in Miami, where I have struggled to find acceptable smoking option, so I'm in a cheap motel with exterior corridor access, which I can handle in Miami's climate.
