With the mystery now (sadly) solved, this brings LHR to a default position of no smoking airside and per the forum guidelines, it’s time to close this thread (however, should there be any future information regarding smoking airside at LHR, please PM the forum moderators and we’ll re-open this thread)

As of 9/26 smoking cage in T4 is still there, clearly signposted (down the stairs after the security checkpoint). When departing from other terminal tell the dragon at the BP checkpoint you are here to take a puff. They seem to be quite used to that.

Thank you luitje ^
This thread has been re-opened based on the quoted post above and the thread title has been changed to reflect that there is still airside smoking at LHR T4

Don't mean to cloud the issue even more, since this is from our trip through LHR in April, 2018. T-2 had a smoking area on the roof of the attached parking garage, and mention of something at street level also. Can't note the street level one, but there is a small area at the top (5th?) floor rooftop, fenced in with no roof in case of inclement weather, and a limited amount of seats which seem to be always filled. Slight overflow just outside the fence, as there were many smokers the day we were there.
May have changed of course, since this was over a year ago.

As I mentioned, it's on the attached parking garage of LHR's T-2, with a walkway from the garage's lower level directly into the checkin, security areas, and boarding gates in the main building or T-2B. We had several hours between connecting flights that day, and followed the signage to the elevators for the small, well marked smoking area on the roof.

If anyone's interested, i was approached back in march while waiting at the A gates @ T2 LHR by a lady with a clip board (probably doing a survey). Asked me some questions RE travel, and also smoking area etc.... maybe coming?

As has been established there is an airside smoking area at T2 and T4, so why doesn’t the LHR website state this? It actually gives pretty incorrect information https://www.heathrow.com/at-the-airp.../smoking-areas
