Wentworth Mansion, Charleston, S.C.
Considering a stay here next year.
Any experiences?
Hotel looks gorgeous and reflects the South Carolina charm.
https://slh.com/hotels/wentworth-mansion
room rates are typically around 600$, so a pretty good value for a Cat1-7

I was looking at this today... looks like the "Deluxe King" is the basic award room. It also reads as if they are "East Wing" rooms with the caveat of no elevator access. For a single date I tried, the Hyatt rate and the hotel website rate are identical. SLH website is $17 more for that night. Breakfast seems to be included as mentioned on the hotel and SLH site, though Hyatt site doesn't mention that.
Hopefully someone with some experience can chime in!

I haven't stayed there personally but I do live close by. The hotel is highly regarded in town and the building is beautiful. Great location in the middle of the peninsula. The hotel has a wonderful rooftop area that is for guests only. The restaurant on-site, Circa 1886, is also very popular.

Just checked in here. Really gorgeous & unique property with a ton of historic details & lots of thoughtful accents throughout. Staff is also top notch (bellman turned on classical music in the room to greet us). We were upgraded to a mansion house room (had booked one of the East wing rooms), its absolutely gorgeous. Told breakfast is included in the morning, hors d'oeuvres & wine included this evening, brandy & port available out all day. Parking also included. This is a great option for a destination option on the east coast.

Just saw this pop up, thought I'd chime in as well! Beautiful historic property. Have only stayed in the mansion rooms, which are beautiful--but they are historical rooms. If you are looking for a glossy modern hotel, this should not be your choice! On-site restaurant is fabulous and we often have date nights here, even when not staying on property. The spa is small but offers excellent services. It is perhaps a bit of a walk from the main tourist sites--this would be no bother during cool months, but when the heat and humidity are turned up in SC... you may prefer staying on Meeting/East Bay as close to Broad as you can get if you plan on doing a lot of walking.

Echoing TNLONTraveller and scbelle, I also had an enjoyable stay. However, some staff members may not be aware of Hyatt affiliation and its benefits.
The property only has 21 rooms/suites with 3 in East Wing and 18 in Mansion. The Mansion rooms are more historic but all are well furnished. Each room has a different layout and furnishing given the historical building. The feeling is more like being invited to stay in a friend/relative's nice house instead of a hotel. Guests are encouraged to socialize during afternoon hours. They don't charge for many items such as parking, breakfasts, minibar, morning coffee & croissants, afternoon hors d'oeuvre and evening cordials. About the only extra charge you may need to pay is for dinner at Circa 1886 which should not be missed.
Circa 1886 is excellent and worth a visit even if you don't stay in Wentworth Mansion. I can understand this is a popular venue for date nights.
My only disappointment is you may not receive any Hyatt benefits. I understand Hyatt benefits at SLH are limited but you are still entitled to one category upgrade as well as 2pm late check out. I was denied both even though the property was less than half full and all room categories were available to book on slh.com. I actually believe staff simply are not aware of Hyatt partnership benefits. For example, I booked using points but was charged a cash deposit. When I emailed to inquire, I was told that it was for the first night's room rate and taxes. I had to escalate to get a refund. I believe some staff members don't even know about Hyatt partnership and thought all bookings are cash bookings as "INVITE" doesn't offer free nights. Note property only offer a small portion of rooms via hyatt.com.
In summary, I can highly recommend Wentworth Mansion and it is excellent value for point/cert stays. It would be nice to receive the promised Hyatt partnership benefits but you cannot count on that. Elite nights for stay have not been credited as well but I will give it a week or two.

Also I'm one for recommending this location service is top notch felt like I was back in old Charleston or something similar. The dinner and service were hard to beat.
